From problem to product

Selectedwork

Not a repository list, but a record of how I find problems, make decisions, and keep building until a product is useful.

Flagship cases

Complete iOS product

Complete product case

Photo libraries quietly consume storage, while the native app lacks a fast, size-aware, and reassuring cleanup flow.

Product design & developmentiOS2026

PhotoSweeper

A faster way to clean, compress, and organize an iPhone photo library.

  • A largest-files-first Attack Mode
  • Stage first, confirm later to prevent accidental deletion
  • Make reclaimed storage the visible outcome

Flagship AI product

Music recommenders return lists, but rarely understand the moment, carry a direction forward, or own the playback result like a DJ.

Product design & developmentWeb · Spotify2026–Now

Ponio

A private AI DJ that understands taste, controls Spotify reliably, and explains its choices.

  • AI provides direction; deterministic systems select and execute
  • Direct playback controls bypass the LLM
  • Clarify only when taste genuinely forks

Selected product

Open source

Clipio

A card-based macOS clipboard manager rebuilt on Maccy's reliable core.

Earlier experiments

TeaApp

Local-first prototype

A personal tea archive, inventory ledger, and brewing memory.

Complete the core recording loop before adding AI, community, or cloud sync.

海克斯大乱斗 AI 助手

Paused

An AI game advisor for builds, augments, and combinations using live data.

Live data, caching, and conversational explanation need to work as one product.

Financial Compass

Not deployed

A personal finance view for organizing assets and reviewing decisions.

Import review and user-level data isolation matter more than adding more charts.

Career Compass AI

Private project

An AI tool for clarifying career direction and next actions.

Advice needs to resolve into concrete actions rather than generic conclusions.

AI Personal Newsletter

Completed experiment

A personal briefing that collects, filters, and summarizes high-signal information.

The core of an information product is higher signal, not more content.

AI 增长运营助手

Completed experiment

A growth loop connecting ad analysis, lead decisions, and follow-up.

AI creates value when embedded in a complete workflow, not a single generation step.

Timezone Overlap

Completed tool

A clearer way for distributed teams to see overlapping work hours.

Even a small utility depends on stable layout and clear time feedback.

The Goodest Boys

Startup project

A one-person e-commerce brand for custom pet gifts.

Operating a real business connected brand, supply chain, pages, and customer experience.

The person behind the work

Who I am

I grew up in Shenzhen, later studied in the US, and graduated from UC San Diego in Business Economics.

My first startup taught me that a product is not an idea or a screen. It is the changing relationship between users, experience, execution, and outcomes.

Today I keep building products to explore where AI and software can solve real problems—and I am looking for teams that care about taking products from zero to one.

Start from a real problem

Understand why someone needs it before deciding what the product should do.

Own it until it works

Move beyond concepts and take ownership across product, experience, and implementation.

Improve through use

Let real use reveal the problem, then turn each failure into the next product decision.

How the pieces came together

My journey

2020–2024

UC San Diego

Studied Business Economics with Sociology and Finance, building a cross-disciplinary view of products, business, and people.

2024

First independent startup

Built The Goodest Boys from scratch and learned to connect brand, product, supply chain, and customer experience in a real business.

2025

Growth and automation

Marketing and automation projects taught me to place users, data, workflows, and conversion on the same product map.

2026

Building real products

PhotoSweeper, Clipio, and TeaApp became a way to turn ideas into products I could repeatedly use, test, and improve.

Now

AI product building

Through Ponio and related experiments, I am exploring AI interaction, reliable execution, recommendation quality, and durable memory.
